MEET YOUR CHANDLER

Hello. It’s me, Jessica. The buyer, studio cleaner, organizer, packaging designer, photographer, marketing manager, content creator, accountant, website editor, packer/shipper, candle tester, candle maker, and the nose behind all things fragrance. Yep - De Baec is a one woman show.

I am a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist and Feeding Therapist by day and Chandler by night. What this really means is that I spend my days traveling around in my little car (toot toot!) visiting kiddos to play, eat snacks, support their development, and support positive relationships between them and their caregivers. I specialize in birth-to-three, serving children with a variety of developmental delays, medical complexities, and histories of trauma. This line of work keeps my head and my heart busy and I never once anticipated adding the role of “Chandler” to my list.

I am a daughter, sister, SO, cat mom, and a bonus mom to two brave, intelligent, kind, and radiant teenage girls. Most of my free time is spent with my family. We lounge at home together in our most genuine fits - wearing cozy clothes, eating yummy snacks in bed, watching our favorite shows, snuggling with cats, writing, reading, and doing all the self care you can imagine. I should also confess that much of my time is spent cleaning and organizing, which I am trying to let go of in order to make room for more important things. Easier said than done (smh).

I love to craft, whether it’s a special meal, a watercolor painting, a poem, or a macrame mural. It could be perfume, skin care products, jewelry, or candles. Anything that gets me learning something new, keeps my hands busy, and gives me that feeling of satisfaction when I take a step back and bask in all the glory of something that I created.

De Baec began as a casual creative pursuit to learn how to make the very best candles for my own personal consumption. These lovely little delights have always been trickled about my home, a habit I adopted from my mama. It took me over a decade to realize that, among the few tangible items she left with me - a little gold St. Christopher gifted at age 13, her plaque of the Desiderata, and the mark of her nickname tattooed across my forearm - she also impressed in me a million beautiful little traits and tendencies.

I hold my mama very close to my heart. Addiction took her from this world when she was only 42, and I have missed her dearly since. Between her history of addiction and my work with young children and their caregivers, I have grown to have a deep passion for the wellbeing of mothers, children, and their relationships.

I’ve perfected my candles. And in some unexplainable way, the process made me feel closer to my mama. De Baec serves as a vessel to not only bring the luxury of high-quality candles to others, but to honor her by giving back to the community. Please take a little time to read more about the way she has influenced and shaped the creation of De Baec, and how I hope to give back to our community one candle at a time.

Side note - De Baec is derived from her maiden name, Bax.
